Welcome to our media wiki

We use this to organize links and information for media of interest on the web. Examples of what interests us exist on this wiki and deoxy.video via searchable index and tagcloud. If you find something particularly informative. enlightening, beautiful and true why not create a page on this wiki to share with everyone?

Any wiki page containing one or more URLs to MP3 or Realmedia files can also be used as a playlist for your media player. These URLs can be in pages containing other content such as text and images. URLs are added to the playlist in the order they appear on the page.

Edit the SandBox to test wiki markup and access the documentation.

Using this Wiki

URLs ending with the following extensions are recognized automatically:

MP3: .mp3, .m3u, .pls, .xpl
Realmedia: .ra, .rm, .ram and .smil

URLs that don't have suffixes can be tagged by adding the following anchors:

MP3: #mp3
Realmedia: #ram

Not recognized:

 http://some.url/that/loads?an=mp3+or+playlist&withoutan=extension

So do this:

 http://some.url/that/loads?an=mp3+or+playlist&withoutan=extension#mp3

To play such a page as a playlist simply select the supplied "Play this page as an MP3/RAM playlist" link. If there is no such link you can append the following suffixes to the page's URL and reload it to play as a playlist:

MP3: .mp3
Realmedia: .ram

For example:

 http://deoxy.org/media/Leary/Tale_of_the_Tribe
 http://deoxy.org/media/Leary/Tale_of_the_Tribe.m3u

When editing wiki pages use the following macros to include a "Play this page as an MP3/RAM playlist" link in the page. Multiple tags are supported so, for example, one can be put at the top and bottom of long pages, or both types can be used on pages with mixed media types.

MP3: @m3u@
Realmedia: @ram@

Use Local: to make relative links to other playlists from within the wiki, for example:

This example includes links to realvideo files followed by a playback link:

In "The Persuaders," FRONTLINE correspondent Douglas Rushkoff explores how the cultures of marketing and advertising have come to influence not [1] only what Americans buy, but also how they view themselves and the world around them. The 90-minute documentary draws on a range of experts and observers [2] of the advertising/marketing world, to examine [3] how, in the words of one on-camera commentator, "the principal [4] of democracy yields to the practice of demography," as highly customized messages are delivered to a smaller segment of the market.
