The Jacket Club
The jacket club met once a month in an old mansion on the East Side. The only required attair was a jacket but
people usually wore some other clothes on their legs. Some people would wear two, three, even five jackets if they
were cocky, but it was generally considered snobbish to wear six or more. You could tell someone was new to the
jacket club when they strutted through the doors wearing 10 and 20 jackets, their heads burried in a ball of fleece
and fluff. The floors of the mansion were made of ice to keep the place cool in mind of all the jackets. Bowling
shoes were offered at the door. It's hard to get started with bowling shoes on ice, but once you start sliding, I
tell you, there is no stopping. There wasn't much talking at the meetings, mostly people just sliding around yelling
"Hey, nice jacket!"
