I am trying to create Subpages for this wiki, specifically these pages [North American Native Spiritual Traditions/Vision Quest]? and [North American Native Spiritual Traditions/Sweatlodge]? and am pretty sure i'm not doing it right,....any help would be appreciated

(and also is it possible to shorten the names to just vision quest and sweatlodge and still have them as subpages, or is that just pure insanity?)

The subpage feature lures us into constructing nested ontologies but the flatness of wiki space works against trees of hierarchical categories. Wiki wants to be as simple to interlink as possible because the organizing principle is really embedded in each page's links and list of backlinks (click any page title). Naturally the best page titles are the most concise and easy to link, and WikiWord titles get linked automatically. Our Help pages are a good example of what not to do because they greatly complicate the act of linking, as you probably noticed when making your link to "Subpages" (above).

It might be useful to generalize this into something like NativeSpirit and use the table of contents feature to keep things separate, yet on the same page, while linking to related concepts such as VisionQuest and SweatLodge (which are simply perfect wikiwords). —dimitri? 2006-06-11 20:27

Thanks, renamed the Wiki's With WikiWord titles, concise and easily linked. (though i seemed to have forgotten to link them as subpages through NativeSpirit...;-) I guess in order to do that i'll have to delete the pages again and rename them,......Wiki, in a constant state of evolution,.....:-) again, thanks. —mim 2006-06-13 20:11

Further edit: I think I just 'cheated' and listed my own subpage index, seems to work,.... —mim 2006-06-13 21:52
