deoxy.wiki : Nothing Talk

Merlyn are you trying to create (or link to) a WikiWord by bunching the terms Quantum mechanic and Virtual Particles together? Or was is just a typo? Hopefully the later as I took the liberty of correcting it ;-),... as to the linking of terms to Wikipedia as far as I can see the '[[]]' (enclosing words in a double square brackets) function doesn't seem to work from deoxy, i've had to enter the full url from the desired page,..example (yes a total newb ;-) any ideas/thoughts/ comments ?

Yes, it was my intention to create the wiki words "QuantumPhysics?" and "VirtualParticles?". I see you also edited my 23 page. The wiki links were deliberate. I thought someone else might provide these pages.

We could use external links to provide definitions, but we could also define these concepts ourselves, giving them a Deoxy slant, and include external links at the end of the Deoxy article. Otherwise it seems to me that this wiki will use many Wikipedia pages, which is possibly not what we want as Wikipedia does strike me as pretty 'straight' ;-)

Mim, I now notice you've edited your edits. Please discuss your ideas here if you wish. e.g. do we want quantum physics, virtual particles, neurological grid etc as wiki words ? What words do we want to make wiki words ? and what is best left to external links ? (just thoughts) Later — I've noe read AvoidClutterLinks and have decided to do away with the link words. If someone creates a relevant page here, I could link to it, until them I'll leave them as normal words. ;-)

See InterWiki for the wikipedia shortcut. Double square brackets are used to force wiki links within this wiki, like when linking subpages (the previous link) or to make links from [phrases with whitespace]?.

At first I thought it was a typo,.... Then I delved further into the WikiRabbitHole and discovered WantedPages , PageProlepsis and WordsSmashedTogetherLikeSo,

 An arguement can be made for all sides:

By creating 'potential' pages one leaves a seed that may or may not come to fruit
To create links to Wikipedia and provide more/backround information.
or leave it in plain text and avoid distractions

Personally, for Biographies (names) semi-obscure concepts (define THat ;-), I'll link to wikipedia until someone can get around to making a deoxy page (asuming the interest is there), again tis only my opinion, others may vary. As to the Edit all I had to do was 'revert to original, and like magic it appeared , the wonder of Wiki,...;-)

Although they use the same software each wiki on deoxy (/wiki /meme and /media) has a separate database and only knows about its own pages. Use the InterWiki shortcuts to prefix links with the name of the corresponding wiki:
 Media:McKenna, Meme:AviationSmog, Wiki:VisionQuest.
McKenna, AviationSmog, VisionQuest.
