Element

A sort of euphemism or circumlocution to describe the bread and wine employed in the Catholic placebo sacrament of the Eucharist; generally capitalized.

1959 Wasson Trans. New York Acad. Sci., 21:333. How startling it is that the ancient Aztecs called this Element by the same name that we use for the Bread and Wine of the Eucharist—God's Flesh [sic]!
