One may imagine the sight of billions of ants on board a driftwood, floating on a fast-running stream. The ants are apparently unaware that their driftwood is nearing a cataract. They seem to be even ignorant of the fact that they are on a driftwood. If they were aware, how could they afford to hate one another, scheme against one another, and be occupied with greed and hostility?
The moment when their driftwood falls down the cataract, what would anything mean to one or another ant, friend or foe?
This pathetic sight is nothing but an epitome of today's mankind.
Tamo-san(1957)MoorIf the people would change their minds and really be spiritual, there would be no need for arms and fighting. Everything could be settled by speaking the truth. But now, people wouldn't know the truth if you spoke it. It only upsets them. It hurts their ego. And then you are their enemy.
Grandfather Semu Huarte (1983)
According to the Sacred Hoop and the prophecies, it is time to share this ancient wisdom. It is time for the Great Purification. We are at a point of no return. The two-legged are about to bring destruction to life on Earth. It's happened before and it's about to happen again. The Sacred Hoop shows how all things go in a circle. The old becomes new, the new becomes old. Everything repeats. White people have no culture. Culture is having roots in the Earth. People without culture don't exist very long, because Nature is God. Without a connection to Nature, the people drift, grow negative, destroy themselves. In the beginning we had one mind, and it was positive, a thing of beauty, seeing beauty everywhere.
The Earth People (indigenous natives) never wrote anything down, had no written language. They knew that if they wrote anything down it would be disastrous. If you write something down you don't have to remember it. And mind goes off into unconsciousness. It becomes negative, or unconscious force.
Brave Buffalo, Brule Sioux Nation (1985)We are no longer alert. We continuously lie to our children and teach them to be liars. Easter bunnies, Santa Claus, denying what their senses tell them, these are all lies. If you're well educated you'll work to hurt people, you'll do the work of big institutions. You'll work to make alcohol, drugs, TV, schools, religion, things to put people's minds to sleep. As long as we remain passive, we shall have in the course of our further existence to submit slavishly to every caprice of all sorts of blind events, and as a result inevitably shall serve soley as means for Nature's "involuntary and evolutionary constructions."
Grace Spotted Eagle Inuit Native American (1985)
G.I. Gurdjieff(1930)LfeThe prime cause for all these happenings is racial, national, religious, and political prejudice, and the root of all this prejudice lies in outworn and deep-seated traditions, be they religious, racial, national, or political. So long as these traditions remain, the foundation of human edifice is insecure, and mankind itself is exposed to continuous peril.
The pacifist theories, the conventional ethical codes of the world, and the international goodwill movements are all but void in coping with the ultimate catastrophe that mankind as a whole is now facing. So are Communism, Democracy and whatnot. The history of man has witnessed great statesmen, great thinkers, great inventors and great scientists who have accomplished so many great works. And mankind has worked day and night so hard to disseminate education, to imbue people with numerous ideologies, thoughts, systems and all the nice things.
To our regret, all these efforts have not proven rewarding. On the contrary, human conscience has kept on disrupting, social turmoils accelerating, and accidents and natural calamities adding their frequency and scale. This is owing to the grave illusion underlying man's life outlook itself. The error was so fatal at its source that the entailing outcomes have formed a huge stream of incongruities during a long passage of time. Thus it is obvious that any deliberations or efforts, so long as the human behaviors--economic, political, educational, etc.--remain to be derived from the keynote of that root illusion, will work against their intentions as they have done in the past.
Tamo-san(1957)MoorWhat do you expect? People are machines. Machines have to be blind and unconscious; they cannot be otherwise, and all their actions have to correspond to their nature. Everything happens. No one does anything. "Progress" and "civilization" in the real meaning of these words, can appear only as a result of conscious efforts. They cannot appear as a result of unconscious mechanical actions. And what conscious effort can there be in machines? And if one machine is unconscious, then a hundred machines are unconscious, and so are a thousand machines, or a hundred thousand, or a million. And the unconscious activity of a million machines must necessarily result in destruction and extermination. It is precisely in unconscious involuntary manifestations that all evil lies. You do not yet understand and cannot imagine all the results of this evil. But the time will come when you will understand. We have done enough stupidities. We have done enough harm to nature, to ourselves. We have been a nuisance on the Earth. Our whole history is a history of crimes - man against man, man against nature. What have we been doing here? Why should we be bothered to survive? What have you done in the thousands of years that you have been here? Can you justify that your being here on the Earth has been a creative addition to existence? Has it made it more blissful, more peaceful, more loving? Has it changed nature for something better?
What have you done in thousands of years except killing, murdering, butchering, slaughtering? - and in beautiful, good names: in the name of God, in the name of truth, in the name of religion. It seems you want to kill and destroy, and any excuse is enough.
Perhaps it is better that this world does not survive. But I am saying "perhaps" - remember that. Again perhaps.
The whole humanity perhaps may not be able to survive, but the few, a chosen few, can be saved. And that's enough.
Osho(1984)RajB IVIt may be that the revolutions and upheavals we see around us on all sides may for the time being bring about the fall of Empires, the destruction of Thrones, the death of the "old" and the birth of the "new." It may be that times of great tribulations lie in store for humanity - I am, however, such a believer in the ultimate perfection of Divine Design that I see in the symbol of the Aquarian Age the promise of "the Water Bearer" pouring out water on the earth, that in the end seeds may have more richness, flowers more fullness and all sections of humanity more love for one another.
There are two systems of power: one creative and one destructive. If the human being is using only the destructive power, then it will become suicidal. For a start it can look as though it is creative, but very soon it will show itself to be destructive. And the more technology is involved in it, the stronger it will accelerate so that at the end the creative power cannot balance the destructive.
The human being has to awaken the force of love in the long run, whereas the negative force is short-sighted and hard. It can live longer in its aggressivity and build stronger and stronger momentum so that it can even kill the power of love.
Sometimes the human being says god is evil, god creates war. How can god condone destructive weapons; how can god condone starvation? Cannot the human being see that she is the one who has created the wars out of her fear generated by negative force? Can she not see that she has created the starvation, that she has created the different cultures and traditions which allow starvation?
She has created the different religions which fight with each other and kill each other. In war human beings are standing against each other and shouting, "It is a holy war, god is with us." Do you think god is fighting with himself or that there are different gods? No, the human being is fighting because of her fear. She has pushed away her paradise. And she doesn't see that she is really right in the middle of it.
Ambres(1987)Look at the world. Though people have been trying to do even a hundred good deeds, the world has been going worse and worse. But why? It is because that which people have been trying to do is minor goodness, and that they have forgotten the existence of major goodness.
The Earth has come to the verge of destruction. Its survival depends on our actions at this very moment. But dear friends, we are in the Dark Age and it is impossible to make the right actions in the darkness. Thus it is of vital importance to bring Wisdom Light. When the Wisdom Light appears in the world, the darkness will disappear. And we will become able to see clearly and understand truly what is right to do and what is wrong to do. Then the Dark Age will transform into the New Age. When the nature of Wisdom Light is recognized in the world immediately, the New Age begins.
When I look, I find that there is no more dreadful a disease than fear. What else is there in life to be feared more that fear itself? Fear paralyzes the very being of a person. Fear destroys the whole capacity for rebellion. Fear makes any change impossible. Fear binds one to the known, and the journey to the unknown is completely stopped - although whatever is worth knowing and achieving in life is all unknown.
God is unknown. Truth is unknown. Beauty is unknown. Love is unknown. But the fearful mind always clings to the known. It does not go beyond the drawn line. It walks on the beaten track. The fearful person becomes mechanical, and he is no different than the drudge. Religions teach fear: fear of hell, fear of sins and fear of punishment. Society teaches fear - fear of dishonor. Education teaches fear - fear of failure.
Simultaneously there is greed attached - greed for heaven, greed for the fruits of virtue; greed for respect, position, reputation, success and rewards. All greed is the other side of the coin of fear. This way the consciousness of a person becomes full of fear and greed. The fire of jealousy and competition is aroused. The fever of ambition is created. There is no wonder if, in all these circular patterns, life is wasted.
Such education is dangerous. Such religions are dangerous. Education is that which teaches fearlessness, stabilizes one in non-greed, gives energy to rebel, gives courage to accept the challenge of the unknown. Education should not teach jealousy and competition, but love; it should not encourage the insane speed of ambition, but natural and self-inspired growth. But this can happen only if we accept the uniqueness of everyone's individuality.
Osho(1966)Behold, I will create new heavens and a new Earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
